Controlling inventory is key to managing production. WinMan ERP will track individual batches of stock through the procurement cycle, into the warehouse, through each step of the manufacturing process and into completion and shipping. Each batch of stock is traced through the whole cycle and, therefore, true cost of sales and margin analysis are inherent in the structure of the data.
Using either MRP, back to back, manually generated manufacturing orders, or a combination of all three, the loading on the shop floor can be seen and manipulated using a graphical planning board and Gantt charts. Detailed planning can be carried out on a weekly or daily basis, using drag and drop within the planning board, to smooth the capacity constraints and clearly communicate the workloads to the team.
Operators and setters can see their 'Work To list' on a fixed shop floor kiosk or handheld device, using the WinMan Go application. Presenting the information on a ruggedized shop floor terminal means the operators can see all the required information, including drawings and documents without the need for paper.
The returns and rework modules allow additional modifications to be costed and scheduled in with standard manufacturing orders through the visual planning boards.
Many companies have moved away from the traditional planning board and use lean processes and coloured tickets to manage the flow of work through the shop. Kanban processing is a manual pull system, which works well, but does not allow for detailed margin analysis or progress chasing.

Our WinMan ERP system allows me to directly and quickly access the management information I need to run the business – real-time reporting of key performance indicators such as operating efficiencies and deliveries. Vitally, more consistent pricing gives a truer margin on the work we perform. Meanwhile the system has supported our company’s strategy of investment for growth and its ability to meet delivery promises, hence strengthening its reputation in the marketplace as a reliable and trustworthy supplier. An accurate delivery date to the nearest day can now be assigned by our sales administration staff within half-an-hour of an order being placed. We proudly meet over 99% of those dates.
As a director of the business it was important to me that the system we implemented not only met our functional requirements, but also came from a supplier that was prepared to take on single source responsibility. Of all of the companies we evaluated, WinMan were the only one that ticked all the boxes.
The underlying advantage of WinMan for John Sankey was its flexibility and the ease with which it could be tailored to suit the company’s specific needs.
Our objective was to streamline data processing and substantially reduce keystrokes – a 50% reduction was the minimum target – and a lot of that keystroking was to do with assignment. The more non-value-adding activity we can take out the better.
