See how Access Covers, a manufacturer of steel access covers, manhole covers and auxiliary drainage products, uses WinMan ERP to replace Sage and Sage Manufacturing and run drawings, bills of materials, quotes, sales orders and accounts on one connected system.
In this video, the managing director and finance manager explain how Access Covers moved off Sage by implementing WinMan in bite-sized chunks, and why the company's ISO examiner was astonished by the traceability of every single part moving through the business.
Read the transcript from the Access Covers video case study, covering the move from Sage and Sage Manufacturing, bills of materials, tailored KPI reporting, bite-sized implementation and ISO traceability with WinMan ERP.
00:00:06 - 00:00:43 "I really didn't want to move from Sage; that was all I knew. So I had a lot of sleepless nights before the system was implemented. I was in tears sometimes thinking 'I just can't do it.' But once WinMan was in and implemented, it was just so seamless. It was so intuitive. The system is just brilliant. There's obviously a lot of development work that goes into it, but as a user, it is so intuitive and so easy. Now I really wouldn't want to be without it."
00:00:44 - 00:01:16 "Access Covers is a manufacturer of manhole covers and associated drainage products. We've got 25 people in the team now, pretty much split half-and-half across physical fabrication/cutting and the office staff. We started the business nearly seven years ago. When we started, we used Sage and Sage Manufacturing, which we struggled with because the two areas didn't really communicate very well."
00:01:17 - 00:01:44 "WinMan arrived in the business about four years ago, and the step change for not just the business but the people within the business was enormous. Everybody was, excuse the term, singing off the same hymn sheet all of a sudden. Everything was very visible, and it was as if it joined all the dots up."
00:01:45 - 00:02:34 "WinMan is used by 12 users, but everybody within the business is subject to it. It is integral to everything we do, from drawing attachments and the bill of materials to sales orders, quotes, and accounts. It gives complete visibility for me as an MD to see what's going on in my business at the touch of a button. One of the massive strengths is the clarity and vision of reports. They can be tailored to your specific job role or specific business. You end up with 10 or 15 'favourite' reports that give individuals exactly the information they need for their KPIs."
00:02:35 - 00:03:02 "I would say one of the strongest parts of WinMan is the ability for us as a management team to do the implementation in bite-sized chunks. We did it in small stages. What we're going to do now that we've got a good foundation is move on to shop floor data capture and configuration tools to take the business even further forward."
00:03:03 - 00:03:36 "WinMan has actually helped us drive that sort of 'kaizen' mentality. We have a very young team here, and they're always looking for a better way of doing something. There are continual questions from the team: 'Can we do this?' or 'Can we get it to do this?'. I've got to say the support that I've had personally through WinMan when we've thrown something at them has been really, really positive."
00:03:37 - 00:04:19 "Our ISO examiner/inspector who comes out has a vision of WinMan and is astonished by the clarity, vision, and traceability of every single part that goes through the business. We are very streamlined because of WinMan. We weren't always that way, and we have found that the time savings we have made in each of the different areas have been huge. It gave us the ability to grow because it took away the need for people to do so much personal admin."
00:04:20 - 00:04:58 "It gave them the time to develop relationships with customers and to develop product. Without WinMan, we would probably be two years behind where we are right now. It is now set up to take us to the next level without any further investment in the product itself. We have a clear vision of where we would like to go as a business. It's important to have an ERP system that will help you along the way, that is reliable, cost-effective, and most importantly, has good support. We have that."
