Prize bolsters the WinMan ERP Software Lean Manufacturing Credentials

Congratulations to Jean Cunningham and Duane Jones, Their book Easier, Simplier, Faster Wins 2008 Shingo Prize for Excellence in Lean Manufacturing

‘Easier, Simpler, Faster’ outlines the breathtaking story of the 1995 implementation of WinMan at Lantech, Inc., Louisville, Kentucky in support of its lean journey. Lantech had reached a point in the journey where it needed an information system that fully supported and enhanced their lean initiative. Inhibited by the then five different information systems serving different parts of the company Lantech selected WinMan in 1995 and implemented a 200+ user lean system in less than 3 months. This was probably the first 200+ ERP system implemented on the Microsoft NT platform and most certainly the first 200+ lean ERP system implemented anywhere. Lantech and WinMan were selected as finalists for the 1996 Microsoft Leonardo Award for technical innovation in manufacturing for this implementation. More than twelve years later WinMan is still enabling Lantech to pursue its lean journey.
